1. 조동사 + 동사원형

조동사(will, may, can, must, should) 뒤에는 동사원형이 온다

조동사 처럼 쓰이는 표현들 뒤에도 동사원형이 온다

  • ought to ~해야한다.
  • had better ~하는게 좋다.
  • would like to ~하고 싶다.
  • be able to ~할 수 있다.
  • have to ~해야한다.
  • be going to ~할 것이다.
  • used to ~하곤 했다.

2. 진행형 / 수동형 / 완료형

진행형 (be + -ing), 수동형(be + p.p.), 완료형(have + p.p.)

be 동사와 have 동사 다음에는 동사원형이 올 수 없다

3. 자동사와 타동사 구분

자동사는 목적어를 취할 때 전치사가 필요한 반면,

타동사는 전치사 없이 목적어를 갖는다.

4. 제안﹒요청﹒의무의 주절을 뒤따르는 that절엔 동사원형

  • 동사
    • suggest, propose, recommend, request, ask, require, demand, insist, command, order

      Customers suggested that the shopping bags be changed to recyclable ones.

  • 형용사
    • imperative, essential, necessary, important

      It’s essential that this project be completed by March 10

  • 명사
    • advice

      The doctor’s advice is that the patient rest in bed.
